Where To Stay In Split

I’m planning a trip to Split, Croatia and I’m looking for advice on where to stay. I’m looking for a place that is close to the beach, has a good nightlife, and is within my budget. I’m also looking for a place that is safe and has good public transportation. I’d love to hear recommendations from people who have visited Split or who live there. Any advice on where to stay would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
