Where To Stay In Chicago First Time

I’m planning my first trip to Chicago and I’m looking for advice on where to stay. I’m hoping to find a place that is safe and comfortable, but also close to the attractions that I want to visit. I’m looking for a place that is affordable, but also has all the amenities that I need. I’m also interested in finding a place with good public transportation access so I can easily get around the city. Any suggestions on where to stay in Chicago would be greatly appreciated.
