When the temperature drops to 50 degrees, I know it’s time to break out my cold weather cycling gear. I start with a lightweight base layer made of merino wool. It’s thin enough to not be bulky, but still provides enough warmth to keep me comfortable. Next, I add a windproof and waterproof jacket with a hood. This is essential for keeping me dry and warm, even if the weather turns wet and windy. I also wear a pair of cycling tights with a windproof and water-resistant outer layer. This helps keep my legs warm and prevents the wind from cutting through my clothing. Finally, I always wear a pair of waterproof gloves to keep my hands warm and dry. With all this gear, I’m ready to take on the cool autumn air and enjoy a bike ride.
