What To Do If You See An Alligator In Florida

I recently visited Florida and while I was there, I saw an alligator. I’m not from Florida and I’m not sure what to do if I see an alligator in the future. Should I stay away from it or try to get closer? Is it safe to approach an alligator? What should I do if I come across one? I’m really curious to know what the best course of action is when it comes to alligators in Florida.
