What Is The European Model In Weather

I’m trying to understand the European Model for weather forecasting. I know it is a numerical weather prediction model, but I’m not sure what that means. Can someone explain what the European Model is and how it is used to predict weather? I’m also interested in learning how accurate it is and what other models are used alongside it. Any insight or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
