White is a big one – it’s a sign of disrespect to wear white in certain parts of the city. Red is another one, as it can be seen as a sign of gang affiliation. I’ve also been told to stay away from bright colors like yellow, green, and blue, as they can draw unwanted attention. I also try to avoid wearing black, as it can be seen as a sign of mourning.

I take these rules seriously, as I know they come from a place of respect and understanding. I want to show respect to my community and the people in it, so I stick to neutral colors like beige, gray, and brown. I think it’s important to be mindful of the colors I wear in Atlanta, as it can be seen as a sign of respect for the city and its people.
