Once I know what the airline’s policy is, I start preparing my bike for travel. I make sure to remove any loose parts, such as the pedals and handlebars, and pack them in a separate bag. I also wrap my bike in bubble wrap and place it in a bike bag or box for extra protection.

When I arrive at the airport, I check my bike in at the baggage counter. I make sure to get a copy of the baggage receipt and attach it to my bike bag or box.
