How To Travel To Santorini

I am planning a trip to Santorini, Greece and am looking for advice on how to get there. I am wondering what the best way to travel to Santorini is and what I should expect when I arrive. I understand that Santorini is an island, so I assume that I will need to take a ferry or a plane to get there.
