What To Wear Out In Nyc

I’m visiting NYC for the first time in the winter and I’m wondering what to wear. I’m not sure what to expect in terms of weather and I don’t want to be too cold or too hot. I’ve heard that the winter can be quite cold in NYC, so I’m thinking of packing a few layers of clothing to keep me warm. I’m also thinking of bringing a coat, hat, scarf, and gloves. I’m not sure what type of coat to bring, but I’m thinking of bringing one that is waterproof and insulated. I’m also considering bringing a pair of boots that are waterproof and insulated as well. Any advice on what to wear in NYC during the winter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
