Dark Souls How To Travel Between Bonfires

I’m a new player to Dark Souls and I’m having trouble figuring out how to travel between bonfires. I’ve read that I need to use a Homeward Bone, but I’m not sure how to get one. I’ve also heard that I can use a Lordvessel, but I’m not sure what that is or how to get one either. I’m hoping someone can explain to me how to travel between bonfires and what items I need to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
